Professional Membership Terms
These terms explain free basic profile control and the separate rules for optional paid visibility and professional opportunities.
1. Free basic profile control
An attorney or firm may request to claim, verify, correct, and edit an approved basic profile without paying Smarter Justice. Claiming still requires identity and authority review. Credential facts, specialty relevance, portal participation, and protected-field changes remain subject to separate evidence and staff approval.
2. Optional paid products
Paid products may provide clearly labeled Sponsored or Featured prominence, enhanced visibility, lead eligibility, and access to case, attorney-review, or work opportunities. These products are optional and separate from free basic profile control. Live paid enrollment remains unavailable until the applicable pricing, billing, support, legal-compliance, and owner gates open.
3. Pricing and renewal
Any displayed founding price is a planning value until enrollment opens. Before payment, Smarter Justice must show the exact fixed subscription, advertising, platform, software, or opportunity-access charge; billing frequency; recurring renewal; cancellation; refund; taxes where applicable; and included benefits. A subscription begins only after verified server-side payment.
4. No percentage or outcome charge
Smarter Justice does not charge a percentage of legal fees, settlements, recoveries, refunds, or case outcomes, and does not make its charge contingent on retention, recovery, settlement, professional fees, or the result of a matter. Any future change to this boundary would require a new owner decision and jurisdiction-specific legal and ethics review before activation.
5. Sponsored placement and organic order
Every paid promotional placement must be conspicuously labeled “Sponsored,” “Featured,” or equivalent advertising language at the point of display. Paid placement does not alter identity or credential verification, specialty eligibility, organic ordering, ratings, warnings, substantive guidance, or a claim that a professional is the best match.
6. Case and attorney-review opportunities
Payment is necessary for paid opportunity access but never sufficient by itself. Access may also require an approved claimed profile, verified credentials, relevant practice evidence, jurisdiction, accepted participation and independence terms, conflicts procedures, availability, privacy and data-sharing controls, support readiness, jurisdiction-specific compliance review, and owner approval. Smarter Justice does not guarantee any inquiry, engagement, client, fee, result, or volume.
7. Independent professional responsibility
Smarter Justice is not a law firm and does not direct professional judgment. The professional is responsible for conflicts, competence, engagement terms, scope, fees, trust-account duties, confidentiality, supervision, advertising compliance, solicitation rules, and every other professional obligation. A profile view, inquiry, or opportunity does not itself create an attorney-client or other professional relationship.
8. Firm accounts and seats
A firm administrator may manage authorized firm information, offices, seats, and billing. Each professional remains responsible for individual identity, credentials, specialty evidence, and conduct. Removing a seat does not silently erase a lawful public-source profile or prevent a correction or removal request.
9. Cancellation, refunds, and disputes
When paid enrollment opens, cancellation ordinarily stops future renewal. Refund and dispute rules must be displayed before purchase and applied consistently with law and the approved policy. Cancellation or nonpayment may end paid prominence and opportunity access but does not remove the right to control, correct, suppress, or request removal of a basic profile.
10. Suspension and enforcement
Smarter Justice may pause profile control, paid visibility, opportunity access, or membership for impersonation, inaccurate information, credential concerns, nonpayment, misuse, complaints, security risk, legal or ethical risk, or violation of these terms. Accurate public-source information may remain visible with a truthful status where lawful.
11. Legal-compliance gate
Paid visibility and case-opportunity products remain closed until Smarter Justice records applicable attorney-advertising, sponsorship-disclosure, solicitation, referral, fee-sharing, privacy, billing, conflicts, support, and qualified-counsel review evidence and Roger approves activation. Platform controls do not replace a professional’s own jurisdiction-specific obligations or legal advice.
12. Changes and contact
Material changes will be presented through the platform or account contact information. Questions, corrections, removal requests, cancellations, or billing concerns may be submitted through the Smarter Justice contact page.
Effective July 29, 2026. These platform terms do not replace a professional engagement agreement or jurisdiction-specific legal and ethics advice.
